The Calm Before the Frost: Preparing Your Skin for Winter’s Arrival. As autumn reaches its radiant peak, it’s time to ready our skin for the season ahead—a quiet transformation that makes all the difference when winter settles in. There’s something deeply soulful about these golden days: the whisper of rain, the soft crunch of fallen leaves beneath your feet, and the gentle chill in the air that invites reflection. The weather still lingers in perfect balance—neither harsh nor humid—making it the ideal moment to begin your skin’s transition into winter resilience.

Nurturing Skin Through Seasonal Shifts
But as we’ve come to expect in recent years, the weather can turn in an instant—sunlight one moment, biting chill the next. It’s during these sudden shifts that our skin begins to speak: dryness, tightness, that subtle itch before the first cracks appear. This is the season when attentive care becomes an art form. Our goal is to guide you through it—sharing the knowledge, rituals, and refined solutions that help preserve your skin’s vitality and protect its luminous, dewy glow all winter long.
Expertly Curated: Dalú’s Five – Step Winter Skincare Ritual
To bring you the most refined and effective approach, we turned to our founder and in-house expert, Lucija Kračun, MD, whose deep understanding of dermatology and beauty science defines the Dalú philosophy. With her guidance, we’ve created Dalú’s Five-Step Winter Skincare Routine—a bespoke ritual designed to nourish, protect, and illuminate your skin through the coldest months of the year.
Why Winter Affects Skin
- Dry air: Cold outdoor air and indoor heating both have low humidity, which draws moisture out of your skin.
- Weakened barrier: The lipid barrier becomes thinner and less effective, leading to sensitivity and tightness.
- Reduced sebum production: Your skin produces less natural oil, leaving it feeling dull and dehydrated.
“Winter skincare isn’t just a routine—it’s protection.”
— Lucija Kračun, MD, Founder of Dalú Skincare
When temperatures drop and the air grows dry, our skin faces its most delicate season. Cold winds, indoor heating, and low humidity draw away precious moisture, leaving the complexion vulnerable and fatigued. Nurturing your skin through winter means restoring balance, strengthening its barrier, and embracing rituals that keep your glow alive—no matter how cold it gets.
WINTER SKINCARE ESSENTIALS
1. Gentle Cleansing
- Choose creamy or milk – based cleansers that don’t strip the skin.
Silky cleansing milk effortlessly dissolves makeup from the face and eyes, purging the skin of surface impurities. Infused with active ingredients sourced from white tea, brown algae, and marine water, it offers protective and revitalising benefits for skin’s barrier. The result is skin that feels impeccably clean and radiantly luminous.
- Avoid foaming or alcohol-based products — they can worsen dryness.
2. Hydrating Toner or Lotion
- Use a refining or soothing toner with ingredients that restore pH and prep skin for moisture and active ingredients.
Our Refining lotion is designed to balance and soothe the skin. The skin is irreproachably fresh, clean, and radiant. Organic Roman chamomile, the ally of delicate skins will protect, soften and provide comfort to the skin. Infused with witch hazel, rich in antioxidants and tannins, it helps tighten pores and control excess oil. The water of barley stems is rich in nutrients with soothing and emollient benefits. Aloe vera juice , rich in polysaccharides, vitamins, trace elements, and amino acids deeply hydrates and restores, leaving the skin soft, clear, and comforted.
3. Deep Hydration Serum
- Look for hyaluronic acid, peptides, and collagen — these draw and retain water in the skin.
- For mature or dry skin, add a nourishing or anti – aging serum with antioxidants and vitamins.
Our suggestion: Marine Collagen Serum & Hyaluronic Acid Youth Elixir
4. Rich Moisturizer
- Switch to a richer cream (like Pampering or Immortelle Cream) to strengthen the skin barrier.
- Look for shea butter, squalane, ceramides, or oils from avocado, almond, or jojoba.
Our suggestion: Pampering Deep Moisturising Cream & Immortelle Timeless Cream
5. Facial Oil
- A few drops of Precious Facial Oil Serum help lock in moisture and add glow.
- Ideal for sensitive or mature skin that needs extra comfort.
6. SPF — Even in Winter!
- UV rays are still strong enough to age and damage the skin. Use SPF 30 or higher daily.
Extra Winter Tips
- Use a humidifier indoors to restore moisture to the air.
- Apply products to slightly damp skin for better absorption.
- Exfoliate gently once or twice a week to remove dead cells, but avoid harsh scrubs.
- Drink plenty of water and herbal teas — hydration starts from within.
